April Lockhart
April Lockhart (born July 4 April, 1995) began her musical journey as a 7th grader when she started piano and guitar classes. In the seventh grade she began to take piano and guitar lessons. This ignited her interest to write songs. She spent lots of time when she was 14 composing songs and experimenting with music. Soon, April began taking trips to NY and LA together with her father to help them write songs. April also added additional themes to the song "Take My Hand" for some of acquaintances who faced problems like peer pressure, disabilities, and even teenage suicide. Lockhart has become a sought-after lifestyle blogger and working in partnerships with clean-cut beauty brands Ilia and YSL, has cultivated an impressive audience. Since she was born without a left hand, Lockhart is a major part of her. However, it's not her entire story. Lockhart's Twitter profile does not shy away from her status as disabled however, it doesn't make a point of it. What message is it sending? The message? That we have many different aspects, that our identities and physical bodies aren't what they appear. Lockhart has stated on video that she doesn't wish to be defined solely by her disability. She does not want to become a disability advocate who only talks about that. There are a lot of aspects of Lockhart. It doesn't impact my daily life. I conduct everything normally and I've found the best way for me to adapt things. The same is true for my life, and I think that it is something to be talked about. Lockhart inspires us to keep striving to be self-accepting. She admits that she has gone through phases where she felt insecure about the way she dressed and showed her arms. She wears whatever she wants and is proud to post pictures of herself wearing the clothes she wears on social media. The key to self-love for her is that it's not an end place to go. This is true for everyone, no matter what their levels of anxiety. People you associate yourself with, who know your personal story and who can look into your heart are the ones you should be relying on to help you remember what you're worrying about.
